Shay is a Belgian Malinois who came from a rescue in Tennessee as a puppy in 2017. She very quickly started her SAR training with a team in south Florida. She was first certified in Tracking in 2018 and then moved on to HRD (cadaver) to become certified in 2019. She remained dual trained until 2023 when it became more important to concentrate on the HRD training. Part of her training included swimming from a boat to shore while dragging me along. She has been in small airplanes and twice flew in a helicopter. She's been on searches all across Central and North Florida and including South Georgia. She even went on a ship over to Grand Bahama after hurricane Dorian devastated the Island. That was quite the eye opener.
